SAN Solutions Appoints Richard Picton to Spearhead ArtiSAN Product Line
RENO, Nev. — Jan. 26, 2011 —SAN Solutions Inc., a media infrastructure company that provides storage and application platforms to the media and entertainment markets, today announced the appointment of Richard Picton as senior product manager for the ArtiSAN product family. With more than two decades of involvement in the drive development industry, Picton will manage the ArtiSAN platforms, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and support to ensure customer satisfaction.
"Richard has the experience, expertise, and commitment to take ArtiSAN to the next level within today's marketplace," said Harry Aine, SAN Solutions president. "Richard's breadth of knowledge in developing and delivering advanced technology will be valuable in the continued deployment of ArtiSAN solutions across all file-based workflow environments."
Picton joins SAN Solutions having most recently served as product marketing manager for Bright Systems Inc. Early in his career, he served in engineering and management roles for several startup companies where he contributed to the development and manufacturing of disk drives and tape products. In the mid-'90s, Picton worked at MountainGate, where early development of Fibre Channel-based SAN products — along with the CentraVision file system — began. In 1998, he became a technical advisor assisting sales and marketing efforts for this advanced technology as it evolved into the StorNext family of products at ADIC and Quantum Corporation.
As senior product manager for the ArtiSAN line, Picton will be based in Reno, Nev., and report directly to Aine.
