SAN Solutions to Address Key Issues in Content Management at SMPTE 2009 Annual Tech Conference & Expo
RENO, Nev. — Oct. 14, 2009 —SAN Solutions, Inc., a leading architect of enterprise-class network storage infrastructures for the media and entertainment markets, will be addressing critical issues in content management at the upcoming SMPTE 2009 Annual Tech Conference & Expo. As a member of the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), SAN Solutions will be among 10 industry-leading vendors participating in an Oct. 26 presentation and seminar dedicated to MXF and advanced media workflows. In addition, SAN Solutions President Harry Aine is partnering with co-author Kirk Marple of RadiantGrid to present a paper on key content management workflow issues and trends as part of the show's "Digital Asset Management and Storage Technologies" session, scheduled for Oct. 28 at 8:30 a.m.
"The value of a media asset lies in the owner's ability to access and use that content when needed, and this year's SMPTE conference and expo will provide media companies with valuable insight into the tools, technologies, and workflows that enable flexible, efficient, and profitable handling of these assets," said Aine. "SAN Solutions is dedicated to providing the storage infrastructures supporting effective content management, and we're very pleased to be contributing our knowledge and experience to what promises to be a rich offering of presentations."
The AMWA seminar will include a demonstration of MXF workflows handling essence and modifying metadata through the post-production process using a variety of vendor equipment, including SAN Solutions network storage infrastructures. Attendees will have the opportunity to see how users and manufacturers are working together on solutions to improve metadata workflow, reduce re-keying of critical information, and save money.
Aine's presentation during the SMPTE session on digital asset management and storage technologies will offer media companies insight into how tools such as media verification can add significant value to content asset management and, in turn, enable more efficient and profitable use of media archives. Aine will explore how content producers and owners can use media verification to ensure that all of the media required for production (or delivery) has been verified off the archive. He will also examine how — as a seamless part of the asset management workflow — media verification and indexing allows media organizations to federate storage archives and use a central database to search media assets, thereby maximizing use of their archives. The presentation will conclude with techniques for adopting media verification systems within a highly automated and easily managed content asset management workflow.
The SMPTE Annual Tech Conference & Expo will be held at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, Oct. 27-29, 2009.
